Film is primarily a visual medium that engages the viewer on a visceral and emotional level, so the filmmaker can use action, excitement, drama, and well-crafted visuals to leap gracefully over plot crevasses that would, if they were to appear in print, leave the reader saying, "WTF?"~brbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10845253722980029012noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3773759989225356372.post-61775975532616937082021-01-18T10:59:10.794-06:002021-01-18T10:59:10.794-06:00Sorry didn't mean to dismiss your comment so q...Sorry didn't mean to dismiss your comment so quickly. You make some good points. Like I said, I am in the definite minority with regards to this movie. The universe of any movie doesn't have to be plausible. I only ask that the actions of the characters be plausible enough.
The Thing gets an A from me for almost every aspect of the film except for the writing. A real shame. All Carpenter had to do was follow the plot of the original story.Pete Woodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14512590488080103661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3773759989225356372.post-71675691420031621452021-01-18T10:22:17.794-06:002021-01-18T10:22:17.794-06:00Great historical context on the Carpenter movie. Agree the movie has some non-sensical plot turns, but then again, what science fiction movie does not require some willing suspension of disbelief?Paul W Celmerhttp://www.igaaks.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3773759989225356372.post-28692837001411995942021-01-18T07:45:43.747-06:002021-01-18T07:45:43.747-06:00This comment has been removed by the author.Pete Woodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14512590488080103661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3773759989225356372.post-34764021138452528202021-01-17T22:33:14.853-06:002021-01-17T22:33:14.853-06:00This comment has been removed by the author.Slothrophttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10535703462365793797noreply@blogger.com
