“Symmetry” • by Gustavo Bondoni

Kina the executioner frowned. In her grid of four-by-four monitors, fifteen of them showed white-and-grey static. One showed four men at a table.

“Pod B-143,” she said. The men looked up. “I need to clear my grid.”

A man jumped to his feet. “No! We have more gifts. Beautiful things.”

Kina looked around. Baubles and jewels from orbiting prison workshops adorned her room.

“Enough.”

She pressed a button. Bombs exploded. The final image turned to static.

Kina sighed, work done at last.
